Area

Drydock is located opposite the Village green in the center of Southwest Harbor Maine, surrounded by Acadia National Park. Acadia National Park has been voted America’s Favorite Place by Good Morning America.

A pleasant five-minute walk from the inn brings you to the docks, boatyards, and Coast Guard Station of this working harbor. On the opposite shore lies Manset, home of the world-famous Hinckley Boatyard. You will be within walking distance or a five-minute drive to many activities, including sailing, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, and biking.

We are located on what is called “The Quiet Side” of Mount Desert Island, as it’s not as hectic over here as it is in Bar Harbor. There are many beautiful mountain top or seaside walks on the quiet side of Acadia National Park. You are just a couple miles away from Flying Mountain, a favorite short hike in Acadia National Park with spectacular views. One of the most placid and soul-filling locations in the park is Ships Harbor, just a few miles away. Take a hike along the rocky shore, explore tide pools, watch million-dollar yachts sail by, or take a nap in the refreshing sea air.

The staff was friendly and accommodating and made many good recommendations for activities in and around Southwest Harbor. It was a great base of operations as we visited trails and activities on both sides of MDI.
